Case Highlights

These are recent examples of successful outcomes, but Attorney Reinhardt also handles cases involving: drug distribution or possession, juvenile court cases, assault and battery cases, including allegations of domestic abuse, all motor vehicle offenses, including operating under the influence of drugs, reckless or negligent operation, etc.

Motion to Suppress, South Boston Court

Client was charged with illegal possession of a handgun which was recovered from his person when he exited a bar. Client had a very limited criminal history and was facing a mandatory sentence of 18 months in jail. Attorney Reinhardt successfully challenged the stop and seizure of gun, resulting in the dismissal of charges.

DUI (alcohol) Second Offense, Boston Municipal Court

Client was charged with a second offense of drunk driving, which calls for a mandatory jail sentence and a 2-year loss of license. At a jury-waived trial, Attorney Reinhardt used aggressive cross-examination of the arresting police officer to raise significant doubt as to whether client was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident. Not guilty verdict was entered by the Judge.

Motion to Suppress Statement, Suffolk Superior Court

Client was charged with a serious sexual assault and facing a likely significant state prison sentence. He had limited English language skills, and the police used a fellow police officer to assist with translation when interrogating the client. Client made several statements harmful to his defense during the interrogation. Attorney Reinhardt filed a motion to throw out the statements based on inaccurate and incomplete translation, particularly when client was asking for additional information about his right to have an attorney present. After a full hearing, the Judge agreed and ordered client’s statements suppressed.

Stabbing Case, Suffolk Superior Court

Client was charged with cutting another man while attempting to rob the victim. Although DNA evidence established that the victim’s blood was on the client’s sweatshirt, at trial, Attorney Reinhardt aggressively challenged the identification of his client as the perpetrator. The victim had been unable to identify the client as the man who stabbed him, and prosecution relied heavily on clips of video and still photos. Attorney Reinhardt was able to effectively minimize the video evidence and the jury returned a verdict of not guilty.

Illegal Possession of Gun (3rd Offense), Suffolk Superior Court

Client was charged with possession of a gun, ammunition and a high-capacity feeder with a minimum mandatory of seven years in prison. The gun was found in a car registered to client and parked at a gathering near a housing project in South Boston. At trial, Attorney Reinhardt raised significant issues as to the client’s connection to the gun and ammunition found in his vehicle. The jury returned verdicts of not guilty to all counts.

MOTION TO SUPPRESS STATEMENT, BMC-CENTRAL DIVISION

Attorney Reinhardt succeeded in suppressing damaging statements made by his client to State Police Troopers. The client was charged with obtaining fraudulent documents from the Registry of Motor Vehicles and was interrogated by State Police officers. A conviction would have serious, negative impacts on client. Attorney Reinhardt researched and drafted a Motion to suppress the statements of his client. At a hearing, he presented evidence and effectively cross-examined a Trooper to establish that his client’s rights had been violated. The Judge ordered the statements of client and documents he produced to be suppressed from evidence.
